During the morning hours of Saturday, September 26, 2009, while some of you may have been sleeping, a hardy group of 20 passionate Teamster Local 177 members helped raise funding for Special Olympics in a very unique way.

   Together, they pulled a 93,000 pound, 737 jet, 12 feet and raised over $1000 for Special Olympics. (This event was a plane pull competition sponsored through the New Jersey State Police Torch Run).

   The team pulled the jet 12 feet in 6.8 seconds. On a seperate pull, 6 members successfully pulled the jet an additional 12 feet!

   After successfully completing their monumental task, the team relaxed while enjoying complimentary food and beverages provided by various sponsors of Newark Liberty Airport Family Day.

   The Local 177 executive board, along with the members, extends their appreciation and thanks to all who participated (through donation and/or donation of time), thus helping to make this event a success.
