LOCAL 177 MEMBER DELIVERS LOST CASH
Apr 27, 2010

Local 177 member John Piontkowski, a driver in the Mount Olive Center, was recently delivering his route in Randolph, NJ, when he and his helper, Paul Paradiso, spotted something in the street. Upon further investigation they found it was a bank bag containing $5,200 in cash.

John found a Bank Of America deposit slip in the bag which listed the money as belonging to a liquor store located in Jersey City.

Having to decide between keeping the money or returning it, John never hesitated and drove to a nearby Bank Of America. He notified the bank manager of the find.

The bank helped John to meet the rightful owner, who resides on John's route. It seems that the monies' owner placed the bag upon the roof of his wife's car while he cleaned the driveway of snow.He and his wife only realized later in the morning that the bag was missing.

The bank manager later contacted the wife's cell phone upon the return of the discovered money.

John was given "a very nice reward" for his actions.

The Executive Board wishes to commend John for his honesty and integrity as displayed through his actions. Well done, John.
